About Hostinger Email
Hostinger email for WordPress site owners is the simplest path if your site already runs on Hostinger. Hostinger Email is a paid mailbox service on your own domain, and Hostinger's web, cloud and agency hosting plans include a free trial of it. You send WordPress mail through smtp.hostinger.com with your normal mailbox password.
This page covers who it fits, the DNS records, the trial, the SMTP settings and how to connect it to WordPress and contact forms.
What is Hostinger Email and who does it fit?
Hostinger Email is the business email service from Hostinger, a web hosting company. You get a mailbox on your domain, webmail at mail.hostinger.com, and setup guides for phone and desktop mail apps. Hostinger also lists spam, virus and phishing filters, aliases, forwarding rules, auto-replies and a tool to import old mail.
It fits well if you:
- host a WordPress blog or small business site at Hostinger and manage everything in one panel;
- need one or a few addresses, such as hello@ and orders@;
- want SMTP that takes a normal password, with no app passwords or admin switches.
Look elsewhere if your team needs shared files, video calls and office apps in the same account. Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 cover that. If you want a fully free plan with no end date, compare Zoho Mail.
Does Hostinger Email work with your own domain?
Yes, and it needs one. You can use a domain you bought at Hostinger, connect a domain from another registrar, or buy a new one. If the domain uses Hostinger nameservers, Hostinger can add the records for you. If not, you add them yourself in DNS, the address book that tells the internet where your mail goes.
Hostinger's help center lists these records:
- MX records:
mx1.hostinger.comandmx2.hostinger.com, with the priorities shown in the guide. Remove any old MX records. - SPF record: a TXT record with
include:_spf.mail.hostinger.com. Keep one SPF record for the domain and add other senders to it. Our guide what is an SPF record explains how. - DKIM records: three CNAME records, not TXT, that let receivers check your mail's signature.
- DMARC record: a TXT record at
_dmarc. Hostinger's example starts with a relaxed policy that only reports problems.
Hostinger says DNS changes can take up to a day to work. After that, check your domain in the DNS and Email Checker.
Is Hostinger Email free or paid?
It is paid, with a free trial. Hostinger's help center says all web, cloud and agency hosting plans include a free trial of Hostinger Business Email. You need a domain you own, and the number of mailboxes depends on your hosting plan. Some domain purchases come with a shorter trial.
The trial has lower storage and sending limits than paid plans. When it ends, mailboxes move to a paid plan if you saved a payment method. Without one, you must upgrade by hand or the service stops. Export your mail first if you plan to leave. Paid plans also come with a money-back guarantee, according to Hostinger's email page.
What are the Hostinger Email SMTP and IMAP settings?
SMTP is the server that sends your mail. IMAP is what a mail app uses to read it. Hostinger lists these values:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| SMTP host | smtp.hostinger.com |
| Port and encryption | 465 with SSL (or 587 with TLS/STARTTLS) |
| Username | Your full email address |
| Password | Your normal mailbox password |
| IMAP host | imap.hostinger.com, port 993, SSL |
Hostinger says to switch to port 587 with TLS or STARTTLS if SSL on 465 gives encryption errors. See every value in our Hostinger Email SMTP settings guide, then test the Hostinger Email SMTP server in the free SMTP Tester.
How do you set up Hostinger email for WordPress site forms?
WordPress sends mail from your web server by default, and that mail often lands in spam or never arrives. Hostinger's own help points WordPress users to an SMTP plugin. Any plugin with an "Other SMTP" option works.
- In hPanel, create the address the site will send from, such as hello@yourdomain.com.
- Install an SMTP plugin such as WP Mail SMTP, FluentSMTP or Easy WP SMTP and choose "Other SMTP".
- Enter
smtp.hostinger.com, port 465, SSL, the full address and the mailbox password. - Set the "From" address to the same mailbox, then send a test email.
- In your contact form, keep "From" on your domain and put the visitor's address in "Reply-To".
Hostinger lists a daily sending limit for each mailbox and a cap on recipients per message. The trial limits are much lower than the paid ones. That is fine for contact forms and a few order emails, but send newsletters through a mailing service.
Bloghints itself runs on Hostinger shared hosting. The facts on this page come from Hostinger's own help pages, not from a test of its mailboxes.
What are the honest downsides of Hostinger Email?
- The free part is a trial. It ends, and then you pay or lose the service.
- Tied to Hostinger. If you move your site to another host, you may also want to move your email.
- Email only. There is no office suite, shared drive or video calls.
- Low limits on the trial. Busy shops may hit the daily sending cap.
- DNS by hand for outside domains. You add MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC yourself unless the domain uses Hostinger nameservers.
What are the best alternatives to Hostinger Email?
- Zoho Mail: better if you want a free plan on your domain that does not depend on your host.
- Google Workspace: better if your team wants Gmail, Drive and Meet.
- Namecheap Private Email: better if your domain is at Namecheap and you want email next to it.
In short, Hostinger email for WordPress site owners on Hostinger hosting is the quickest setup: the trial comes with your plan, SMTP takes a normal password, and the DNS records are simple. Plan ahead for the trial's end, and test your WordPress mail before you rely on it.
