The Hostinger email SMTP settings are: server smtp.hostinger.com, port 465 with SSL, and your full email address with its mailbox password. If SSL gives you trouble, Hostinger lists port 587 with TLS/STARTTLS as the backup. For incoming mail, use imap.hostinger.com on port 993.
| Setting | Value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| SMTP server | smtp.hostinger.com | Same for every Hostinger Email domain |
| Port and security | 465 with SSL | Hostinger's standard setting |
| Backup port | 587 with TLS/STARTTLS | Hostinger's option for encryption problems |
| Username | Your full email address | For example name@yourdomain.com |
| Password | The normal password of that mailbox | Reset it in hPanel if you forgot it |
| Incoming IMAP | imap.hostinger.com, port 993, SSL | Keeps mail in sync on all devices |
| Incoming POP3 | pop.hostinger.com, port 995, SSL | Downloads mail to one device |
Before you paste anything into a plugin, test these Hostinger SMTP settings in the free SMTP Tester. It checks the connection and the security certificate without asking for a password. If you add your login, it can send one test message so you know the mailbox works.
What do these email terms mean?
SMTP is how email gets sent. Your website or app hands each message to an SMTP server, which delivers it. IMAP is how you read mail while it stays on the server, so every device shows the same inbox. POP downloads mail to one device instead.
A port is a numbered door on the server. SSL/TLS on port 465 locks the connection from the start, like a sealed envelope. STARTTLS on port 587 opens a plain connection and then switches the lock on. Both keep your password safe on the way.
What do I need before I start?
- A Hostinger Email mailbox on your domain. You create it in hPanel under Emails.
- The mailbox password. Hostinger uses the normal password here, not an app password or a special key.
- A domain that points to Hostinger's mail servers. If you moved your domain lately, see how to point a domain to hosting.
To see the settings for your own account, open Emails in hPanel, click Manage next to your domain, and choose Connect Apps & Devices in the side menu. Bloghints runs on Hostinger shared hosting, and this is the page to check if anything above ever changes.
How do I use the Hostinger email SMTP settings in WordPress?
WordPress sends mail with PHP by default, and many inboxes ignore that mail. An SMTP plugin sends it through your real mailbox instead. In WP Mail SMTP, the steps are:
- Install and activate WP Mail SMTP, then open its settings.
- Set From Email to your Hostinger mailbox and tick Force From Email.
- Choose Other SMTP as the mailer.
- Enter
smtp.hostinger.comas the SMTP Host. - Pick SSL and enter 465 as the port. For the backup, pick TLS and 587.
- Turn on Authentication. Enter your full email address and the mailbox password.
- Save and send a test email from the plugin's Tools tab.
FluentSMTP and Post SMTP use the same values with slightly different labels. Your site does not need to be hosted at Hostinger for this to work. Only the mailbox has to be there.
How do I set it up in an email app or phone?
In Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail or your phone, add a new account and pick IMAP if the app asks. Use imap.hostinger.com on port 993 with SSL for incoming mail. Use smtp.hostinger.com on port 465 with SSL for outgoing mail. The username is your full email address in both places.
On an iPhone, iPad or Mac there is a faster way. Go to Connect Apps & Devices in hPanel and click Set up Apple devices. Pick your address, then scan the QR code or download the profile. Install it in your device settings and enter your email password. If you use POP3, set the app to leave a copy of each message on the server.
What do common SMTP errors mean?
- 535 authentication failed: the email address or password is wrong. Type the full address, and check for a space at the end of the password.
- 530 must issue a STARTTLS command first: you chose port 587 but left encryption off. Pick TLS for port 587, or SSL for port 465.
- Timeout or "connection refused": the port is blocked on the network your site or app runs on. Try the other port. If both fail, ask that host which ports it allows.
- 550 or 553 sender not allowed: the From address is not the mailbox you logged in with. Make them match.
- Nothing sends or arrives at all: Hostinger's help suggests you check that your domain's MX records point to Hostinger and have fully spread across the internet.
Why do my emails land in spam?
SMTP gets the message out. Trust comes from your domain's DNS records. SPF lists the servers allowed to send for your domain. DKIM signs each message so inboxes can check it was not changed. DMARC tells inboxes what to do when the first two checks fail. Read what is an SPF record for the basics. Then run your domain through the DNS and Email Checker to spot missing records.
The Hostinger email SMTP settings fit in one line: smtp.hostinger.com, port 465 with SSL, full email address and mailbox password. Keep port 587 with TLS as your backup. Run a quick check in the SMTP Tester before you go live. Using more than one provider? Our SMTP settings list has them all.
Frequently asked questions
Should I use port 465 or 587 for Hostinger email?
Start with 465 and SSL, which is Hostinger's standard setting. Hostinger lists 587 with TLS/STARTTLS as the option to try when you have encryption problems. Both send mail through the same server.
Where do I find my Hostinger email settings in hPanel?
Open Emails in hPanel, click Manage next to your domain, and pick Connect Apps & Devices in the side menu. The page shows the servers, ports and your username. It is the best place to check if anything changes.
Do I need an app password for Hostinger email?
No. Hostinger Email uses the normal password of the mailbox for SMTP, IMAP and POP. If you change that password, update it in every plugin and app that sends from the mailbox.
