Email marketing services help you write to your readers or customers: setting up a newsletter tool, building sign-up forms, writing welcome series and campaigns, and making sure emails land in the inbox instead of spam. Deliverability work, such as SPF, DKIM and DMARC records and list cleaning, is often the part that makes the biggest difference and the part people know least about. A service that checks those records first will often fix more than a new template ever could.

Before you hire
Before hiring, ask which email tools they know, how they grow a list without buying addresses, and what they measure besides opens. A good service will tell you to remove people who never read, even if the list gets smaller. Ask who owns the list and the account.
